Don’t worry there are plenty of signs to help you when you get here!
- You may have your temperature taken upon request at the entrance to the Government Center even though it is not required- just ask a Deputy at the front door!
- Masks are REQUIRED FOR ENTRY, there are hand sanitizing stations conveniently located and we are cleaning the public areas daily.

The Annual Appeal Deadline is August 1, 2020
Any person desiring to Appeal their Real Estate Assessment shall file an Assessment Appeal Application stating the reason for the Appeal with the Board of Assessment Appeals. The Butler County Assessment Office, 124 West Diamond St., Butler, PA 16001, ON OR BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF AUGUST 2020.
We will accept walk-in applications on Monday, August 3 since the deadline falls on a weekend. Otherwise we will accept the applications for appeal by mail (must be post marked by August 1, 2020) or by fax!
Information regarding Covid-19 and Property Taxes
Senate Bill #841/Act 15-2020 allows the County and Municipalities to extend the period by which property taxes "at face" through and until November 30, 2020. Butler County has passed Resolution 2020-12 to allow for this change. Municipal Resolutions that have been passed can be found on the link below. Please contact your local municipality for further information if it is not listed here.

Senate Bill #1125/Act 75 was passes and allows School Districts to extend the discount period and/or eliminate the penalty period for the payment of property taxes for the 2020-2021 school year. Please contact your local school district for more information.
The mission of the Assessment Department is to assess and promote uniformity to all real estate in the County of Butler. The Assessment Department operates primarily under the authority of the Consolidated County Assessment Law 53 Pa. C.S. § 8801et Seq., and such other laws and statutes that may relate. The Assessment Department generates the property tax bills for the County, Municipalities, and School Districts.
The County and Municipal Property Tax Bills were sent out on March 1, 2020. Please refer to your bill for tax collector information and due dates.
The School Property Tax Bill will be sent out August 1, 2020.
If you own property in Butler County and did not receive a tax bill, please contact your local tax collector.
