The Butler County Sheriff’s Office offers a bi-annual Basic Handgun Safety Course. We are very excited to be able to offer this type of program for our County residents. The course is 2-evenings at the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club in East Butler, Pennsylvania which is held once in the spring and once in the fall.
We limit the number of participants to 30.
Class Outline
Day 1 - Classroom
Classroom topics will include:
- Ammunition
- Care and Maintenance
- Firearms Control
- Safety and Weapon Care
- Transporting a Firearm
- Understanding how a Firearm Works
- Weapon Handling
Day 2 - Range
Participants will shoot a minimum of 50 rounds, extra range work will be permitted if time allows. Distances will not exceed 25 yards.
